20 days left until Time Attack competition at Mallala!

Currently 2 starting entries left, and we are expecting the usual 1 - 2 withdrawals leading into the final 14 days!

We encourage those who are keen to get out onto the track to take the opportunity this week to submit their paid entries to secure a spot.

And those competitors who may now require a shed for the day please notify us at entries@gsr-evo-club.net prior the 19th July.

Our pleasure Bill :P

The format is a fantastic step for Mallala first goers, with instant feed back on times, ample support from experienced competitors, short sprints to prevent overstressing vehicles, as well as providing a relatively fair platform for those vehicles running street spec tyres.

All in all you will love it!

What's required exactly to get the 'ok' sticker?

So does that mean that Go pro cameras don't need a sticker as they are under 200g

Phillcom Rally Time Attack Round 2 - Event format

Form up:

When competitors are called up for their session please form up on the inside lane of the timing bay shed. The timing equipment will be fitted to your car while you wait for the current group to complete their circulations. Competitors must report to form up approximately half way through the previous groups session to allow adequate time to fit the timing equipment and ensure all of your group is ready to start their session. Do not rely on the organisers to call up your group, please have some intuition.

Practise:

The track will be open to 6 cars at a time to circulate. Practice will not be timed. You have 3 full laps and ¾ lap to use as you see fit. This time can be used to bed brakes and scrub in tyres. You are welcome to go as fast or as slow as you wish, however please be mindful of other track users. Passing is permitted on the straights only. Please allow a percentage of your time out in practice to cool your car down before returning to the timing bay shed.

Sessions:

Once you have formed up in your groups with the timing equipment fitted, competitors will then be asked to move into the dummy grid area ready for entry to the track. Competitors are to organise themselves into running order in the dummy grid. Once the track is clear, pit exit will release the first 6 of 12 cars onto the track approximately 10 seconds apart. Competitors have ¾ warm up lap before commencing their timed hot lap. It is important to keep a near race pace warm up lap to keep the 6th warm up competitor clear of the soon fast approaching 1st hot lap car. To keep the gaps evenly spread, competitors must not enter the essess (turn 7) before the competitor in front has exited the essess (turn 9). Once you cross the start finish line your timer will activate and you commence your timed hot lap. Once you cross the start finish line for the second time, you exit the track and follow directions back to the timing bay shed for time collection. It is track courtesy to keep your pace into the pit lane strip at turn 1 to prevent exiting competitors blocking the racing line for the next set of 6 competitors who would have already been released onto the circuit. Once your time has been collected, you will be directed back into the dummy grid area to be released back onto the track for another 3 timed hot laps. Once you have completed the session, the timing equipment will be removed and transferred into the next awaiting group formed up.

Thus; ¾ warm up > 1 timed hot lap > timing shed (x4 per session). Please refer to <incar footage> for clarification.

Cool downs:

If competitors feel that throughout their session they would like to cool down, the southern sheds will be free for circulations at walking pace only. You are then permitted to enter the dummy grid for release back onto the track. The time taken to cool down and reform will be equivalent to a timed lap, so please be aware that a cool down circulation in the southern sheds will forfeit you a timed lap in your session.

Paddock:

Competitors are to drive at walking pace only in a clockwise direction. Competitors are asked to park within the trackside shedding area with all the other competitors (Bays 1 – 29). The southern sheds (Bays 30 – 99) are for competitors trailers and cool down circulations only. Spectators and official parking will be on the grassed /canteen area of the paddock only. Please refer to <Mallala Paddock Map>

Results:

Competitor results will be posted approximately 30 minutes after the end of the entire session on the VIP room opposite the fuel pump. Any timing discrepancies must be taken up with the deputy clerk, Tristan Catford, who will happily authenticate with the timing team. Any competitor found approaching the timing team will not find much resolution as they have other duties to all competitors, not just you!

All will be clarified at compulsory driver briefing at 9.15am SHARP.
