Don't drift FWD vehicles

Postby magna on Mon Sep 15, 2003 12:09 pm

Well... Went out 'Practice Drifting' on Saturday night and left a turn a bit late and went straight into a gutter.

At the end of the day, just bent my lower control arm quite substantially and nothing else! A $16.50 part and around 12 hours of straight labour with 2 people working on it (though rain... hail... and shine).

I wish I could have used the puppie/fox excuse for hitting the gutter, but the g/f's parents didn't believe me. :(

If drift damage is only going to cost me $16.50, $95 for a tow and 12 hours of labour... I'll be out this weekend again  Well, maybe not.

Something along those lines - thought i'd get in a bit of private practice without an audience. Drove it for about 5 minutes to the main road (and had smoke pouring off it becuase the wheel was rammed right back against the chasis).

First thing the tow truck driver says when I got in his truck "out drifting hey?" :)

It's off getting a wheel alignment now. :D I'm going to buy myself a RWD "thrash/drift s**t".

its not classed as "drift"....but ass draggin or handbrake with front tyres frying

but what do u define as drift? i beleive that u can drift in a fwd car....its just a different method and strategy to take the bends

Left foot braking, once perfected, is one very controled way to "drift" a FWD vehicle.

i read a turorial once on LFB and drifing, in a FWD proton, and they did it too  ill have to try find that webaddy again :doubt:

A hit a gutter back in March. The road was wet and bang, missed a light pole by 1 foot. Bent my rim back and snapped my left driveshaft and suspension. $6750 latter it was back on the road.

Cheers
