Guard Rolling

Postby doommachine on Thu May 18, 2006 6:31 am

Anyone have any suggestions as to who would do the best job at rolling my front guards out? (in SA of course) There are a lot of panel beaters etc in the phone book.. then again, it might not be their bread and butter, so perhaps a drift or rally specialist?

Also, what would be a reasonable price to pay for a good job (ie, one as close to stock appearance as possible). Some guy on the nissansilvia.com forums is offering it for 60 bucks a corner, whereas a search here resulted in someone being offered 165 per corner..

Someone also might be able to answer this question - I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to metal work. Would it be possible to flare them out, and raise them up a short amount thus increasing my "eyebrow height", without ruining the paint?
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me for a dollar I\'d have a lot of dollars to give out. Although I suspect it\'s a viscous circle.

Thanks very much! I'll email him and see what he says.

Also, what does "pump guards" mean?

This is an example of guard pumping. Basically flaring of the guards. Usually done with the guard roller and a heat gun.

Hi all,

Been a long while since this thread recieved a bump... Want to get my rear guards on an Evo VIII rolled & slightly pulled. Anyone know if SLAMMED is still arounnd? Would really prefer not to go to wheelworx if I can manage it, really not satisfied there to say the least... Let me know, am happy to travel however far, so long as time will be taken, and a good job is done all round...

Cheers

Just wanted to post up a massive positive in regards to Jeff (SLAMMED) as he did a great job on my rear guards last weekend. Did it on a GSR 2003 EVO 8, and charged $50 a corner. I originally had it booked into wheelworx for $110 a corner last friday on my only RDO for the month. was told it would be 2 hours. came back 4 hours later and it had not been touched.... no phone call, so no business ever again in my books. Jeff was great! Could not say enough good things about him!
