Matt, have you checked that your alternator is putting out over 14v and that the battery is receiving as close as possible to alternator output voltage?

you will want to have a fuse/breaker as close to the battery as possible just in case the wire running to the front of your car fowls/breaks etc. but the voltage drop will be tiny if you use some thick gauge wiring

I was getting this aswell... problem for me was that I was running a distribution block up front where I the connection for the alternator/starter motor loom to the was crap. as pointed out, first check if you are getting 14v (could be as high as 14.4v) across the battery when the car is running, but if that doesn't work recheck all of your connections.

a very old post this one but some new questions have arisen.

I've had a friend do this and it just caused him headaches.

Why do you want to do it? More engine bay space?

No offence, but that means your friend hasnt done it properly.
Heaps of people have done this mod without any problems, so obviously something isnt right there.
Yes it frees up alot more space, and easier to get a cold air intake setup behind the headlight etc.
