Ryan is a long-time supporter of SA Time Attack in his ISC Performance sponsored 200SX which as you can imagine takes advantage of everything from the ISC catalogue!

“Not a great deal has changed on the 200SX in the past 18 months except changing from Toyo R888 to the Hankook Z221 that along with some big alignment settings took my PB from 1:17.69 down to 1:16.01! So looking to hopefully crack the 1:15’s at this year’s event!”

Martin Donnon – WILLALL RACING

Martin is debuting the Willall Racing WR86 package for Time Attack style racing in the 2013 HANKOOK SA TIME ATTACK. After a successful season of Hillclimbing and Sprint format events its time to see how this daily driven street package performs in a one-lap dash.

“The good thing about the dealer backed WR86 Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ package is that it’s so useable” Donnon explains. “No need to worry about emptying catch cans, looking for turbo leaks, or general fuss. Just make sure there is fuel in the tank, switch the maps over to E85 on the fly, and take advantage of the entertaining performance levels on offer around the track all day if required. It’s not a matter of just plug in a tune and go though, a lot of engineering has gone into the WR86 package, and we would really like to thank our project partners CMI Toyota, Toyo Tyres, Otomoto, OS-Giken, Whiteline suspension, and Elite Finish. WR86 is a good thing!"

WR86EX Series Titanium Exhaust Assembly
WR86TU Engine Management recalibration

Fox back for Club Class win.

Driver:
Michael Willis

Michael Willis (AKA The Fox) has always been a consistent performer in club racing in his Evo 9. Fox is forever at the pointy end in a true club level car often tenths from outright podium positions in national hillclimbs and gymkhana events. “I have missed the Time Attack formats in SA this year and keen to get out and challenge my personal best on October Long Weekend”. Fox and his Evo 9 are knocking on the door of 1:14’s which makes him an ‘on paper’ favourite for the club class win.

Time Attack is back at Mallala and along with it so is Tim in his Porsche GT3 Cup. Evolving from the Boxter S to GT3 Club Spec , Tim has now stepped up into full attack trim presenting his newly acquired GT3 Cup spec Porsche for this year’s event! The GT3 Cup chassis are engineered to circulate on a full slick, however to remain compliant to true Time Attack racing Tim has wrapped the BBS racing wheels in road legal tyres. Although a relatively new experience in the GT3 Cup car, Tim has plenty of Porsche sprint experience including Phillip Island, Eastern Creek and Bathurst and looks forward to setting a new personal best on the October Long Weekend.

One of the most anticipated Club Class entries this year has to Brodie’s wild Evo 9. Although this will be his debut time attack event, Brodie has been working with the right crews to get his Evo prepared for some serious track action.

“Driven Motorsport have come on board and taken control of the mechanical work and general race prep for the upcoming season. We are really excited about the project and cannot wait to get out on the track. Driver: Craig Van Diemen

Craig has been playing around on the hillclimb and Time Attack scene for a few years. You may have seen his street legal and largely stock Tommi Makinen punching above its weight thanks to SKR.

Mid 2012 Craig retired the 6.5 and upgraded to a car that could carry him through Tarmac rallies. Along came the Mike Dale Automotive prepared Evo 8RS. After completing Targa Adelaide this year Craig is preparing the car for its first outing at Mallala since the purchase.
The stiff Walker weld in cage and the 50mm DMS should see the car handle well, but we all know Mallala is about Grunt and brakes. However, with rally being the focus, power has been limited to around 285kwatw but torque is quite epic, and a close ratio RS gearbox will see plenty of gear shifts and maybe a bit of limiter bashing in top.

Some old Dunlop DZ03G's will carry the car for most of the day, with some Hankook Z221 C70's going on for just one or two runs. Both tyres have been supplied and fitted by event sponsor SA Motorsport Tyres.

Class: Club

Modifications:
Full tower roll cage
Rally prepared safety items
E85 tuned

Tyres: Dunlop DZ03G M1 / Hankook Ventus Z221 C70

One of the nicest STi examples on the road and it is an absolute brute! Alex’s STi is a wolf in sheep’s clothing with a very extensive build under the bonnet thanks to the previous owner. The noise this STi makes with its equal length headers at full noise is sure to get the attention of the spectators on the 7th October! Although never lapped Mallala, Alex has ran private days with the STi at Sandown and Phillip Island circuits, and late last year recorded a 2nd outright in the inaugural OzGymkhana at Tailem Bend Motorsport Park. Alex has entered ‘just for fun’, however the modest package and driver ability might just surprise a few in Club Class!
