MELBOURNE – Sept 24, 2013: Continuing its support of Australian motorsport across a number of categories, Hankook Tyre Australia is the naming rights sponsor of the inaugural 2013 SA Time Attack.
Organised by the Mitsubishi GSR/Evo Club and supported by SA Motorsport Tyres, following its support of the Victorian and NSW Time Attack events in 2013, Hankook Competition will be the naming rights sponsor for the South Australian event.
The Hankook SA Time Attack is a state-based series that will entice the fastest locals and interstaters to contest the three classes, in which will be two different types of tyre construction; the Hankook SA Time Attack will be held around Mallala Motorsport Park’s technical and demanding 2.6km circuit.
Like the other state series, the Hankook SA Time Attack competition will be based around a competitor’s fastest timed single lap over the course of the day’s five-and-a-half hours of open track time, with the three classes offering a level of competitiveness for varying states of vehicle modification.
The Street Class is the entry level category, and the vehicle must be street registered and fitted with street tyres, such as Hankook’s competition-developed street tyre, the Ventus Z222 R-S3. The R-S3 has won numerous time attack and competition titles around the world since its introduction in 2011. Its construction, compound and performance is ideal for the Street Class, but complemented by its wet-weather grooves and perfect suitability for everyday street use.
The Club Class has more freedom for modifications, and is ultimately limited by a lap time of 1m:15secs; it also allows for a semi-slick R compound type tyre, such as Hankook’s Ventus TD Z221. Placing first, second and third at the 2012 World Time Attack in the Open class, along with wins at the 2012 Victorian and NSW Time Attack events, the Z221 tyre has proven extremely popular not just in Time Attack, but also tarmac rally, winning the 2012 Showroom Targa Championship, and in circuit racing, being the official control tyre of the testing 2013 Australian Manufacturers Championship.
The Open Class, also using the same tyre of R-spec tyre such as the Ventus TD Z221, allows much greater freedom of vehicle modifications, such as mandated roll cages and greater freedoms in aerodynamics and improved safety equipment.
The Hankook SA Time Attack will also feature a Top Ten Shootout, a one-lap dash for the ten fastest cars of the day across all three classes, offering a chance for any car to win the Shootout. The winner is determined by the largest lap-time improvement over a competitor’s fastest time during the day’s normal competition.
Off-track there will also be a Show & Shine component to the event, where the winner will earn a $250 voucher from SA Motorsport Tyres.

Brad Musolino
Strawberry faced Silvia of Brad Musolino presents as a dark horse for Club Class at Hankook SA Time Attack 2013. Brad’s S13 makes plenty of grunt that should push him into the top end of the field. The power is delivered to the ground through a mechanical LSD and trick suspension components. Lapping in the mid 1:18’s at Mallala on high performance street tyres, we will watch with interest as Brad options for a mixed semi-slick combo to smash his personal best. Brad has proven his driver ability with respectable results at the Targa Adelaide night stage and Ozgymkhana events recently.

Mark Jantke
As the reigning Time Attack Series Open Champion, we are proud to feature our next Open Class driver profile - Mark Jantke! Taking out first place in Round 1 last year and the following up with second place in round 2 saw Mark take the coveted crown as Open Champion. Boasting a serious weapon with stich-welding, wide body panels, titanium side pipes and tons of power, his white Nissan R32 GTR will be one to watch out for! Mark's attitude on and off the track, his GTR and respect for other cars/drivers made him a great asset to Time Attack.
Mark would like to thank his sponsors of Paint Tech, Morpowa, Stanbel Road Crash, Tyre Power Kensington Park and Autosport which have helped him get to where he is today.

Last minute dark horse rides into town…
Driver: Ryan Verner
Wild card, wild man, Ryan Verner is making the trek from interstate for tomorrows Hankook SA Time Attack at Mallala in his Evo 9. Ryan has an extensive variety of experience in SA, NSW and VIC making sure he gets out to super sprints on a regular basis, including Phillip Island, Sandown, Eastern Creek, Wakefield Park, Mallala and all the big state hill climbs. His Evo 9 has some great speed from a basic E85 tune as demonstrated at the 2012 Evo Nats smashing many higher modified examples down the Goulburn air strip! Humble in his ability also, resting results on the machinery underneath, but the truth is the list of modifications is not as sizeable as his talent!

Driver: Steve Knight
One racer that needs no introductions with a motorsport champion resume that dates back to the early 1990’s from club car racing at Bathurst to GT Performance racing on the national circuit. The SKR workshop Evo 6 has developed from a GT Performance Production Car (2000) to Improved Production (2005) to Unrestricted Time Attack spec during the 2011 season finishing first outright in the tuner series and setting a personal best of 1:11.012 at Mallala on the Hankook Ventus Z221 semi-slicks.
“I am eager to get back out on to the track for this year’s SA Time Attack as I missed out on both rounds in 2012. There are new players emerging that are lapping really quickly at the front end which will be an exciting challenge.” – Steve explained.
The Evo 6 has a newly developed turbo setup that pumps 43psi into the in-house 2.4 litre 4G63 and produces enough ponies to excite even the most experience campaigner.
