Wow what a day! Not sure where to begin.
Big thanks to
Autosport Direct for supporting the Mitsubishi GSR/EVO Club and Time Attack in SA. They've also put up the prizes that we're all out there racing for. Of course it wouldn't possible without them and MGEC's other sponsors:
Steve Knight Racetech
S & J Automotive
Willall Racing
SA Motorsport Tyres
Exhaust Technology
Infinity Signs
I would also like to thank the officials and the volunteers on the day. Regardless if you were waving a flag or scrutineering cars - you all played a part in making this event successful. It was great to get some feedback that the day was organised, ran to time and was conduct in a friendly manner with smiles all round. It is fantastic to see everyone out there with the one goal of making it a fun, friendly Time Attack Event.
Competitors, I hope you all had as much fun as I did out there. If so our 'job' (hosting Time Attack) was done and the MGEC Committee can take pride in that. Congratulations to the Fastest Time's of the Day in each of the classes and to anyone posting a PB on the day. Weren't the conditions great! Commiserations to those unforunate enough to suffer mechanical problems in the lead up and/or on the day. Also great to see the new faces (although everyone is a 'new face' to me!) out there giving it a shot. You don't need much to get started in the event, I guarantee you'll be hooked. There were some great battles throughout the timings, not much splits anyone in the 1:15's and again around the 1:19/1:20's.
Thanks to all the spectators that came out throughout the day, having a crowd of people really does add to the atmosphere of the event. There was some nice machines in the parking lot too, some of which would've looked at home on the track. Legnum, RColt, a bunch of skyline arriving at once, more evo's. Street Class is where you can get a taste for Time Attack!
Committee members, appreciate your help on the day making the event run as smooth as it did. Being new to this, your knowledge was invaluable. Pats on the back all round.
